Abstract: Based on the decoupling theory, this paper quantitatively estimates and classifies the industrial carbon unlocking effect of 30 provinces in China, and analyzes the influence factors of carbon unlock in China and three regions by using STIRPAT panel data model. The results show per capita output, R&D investment proportion, energy efficiency and energy consumption structure have similar influence on industrial carbon emissions intensity from the national and regional perspective, wherein the energy efficiency has the maximum positive effect on inhibiting the carbon emissions intensity, per capita output comes second, the energy consumption structure has the maximum positive correlation; the R&D investment proportion of region III has a positive correlation with carbon emissions intensity, which is contrary to the expectation. One possible explanation is that the R&D investment is mainly used in the promotion of industrial growth, but not in energy-saving and emission-reduction.
